This tool was designed to help demonstrate the relationships between MR volumetric measurement variables and the calculated regurgitant volume (RVol) & fraction (RF), and the effective regurgitant orifice area (EROA).
Adjust these values:
Calculate this from LVOT diameter and VTI.
Total SV: ml
RVol: ml ()
RF: % ()
EROA: cm2 ()
Biplane or 3D LV end-diastolic volume.

EROA: cm2 ()
This determines the EROA calculation.

The total stroke volume (Total SV) is calculated as LVEDV * EF;
The regurgitant volume (RVol) is calculated as Total SV - LVOT SV (i.e., the forward stroke volume);
The regurgitant fraction (RF) is calculated as RVol ÷ Total SV;
The effective regurgitant orifice area (EROA) is calculated as RVol ÷ MR VTI
Scrupulous care must be taken when making these measurements as it is easily possible to create a condition where the RVol (and RF) calculate to a negative value!
